Texarkana Life Insurance Company was originally charted in October 1975 by Thomas H. Fuqua, Jr. and his business partner Harry Everett. The original purpose was to primarily sell credit life insurance to bankers and car lots in the local area, however Mr. Fuqua soon began to expand into Funeral Contract Preneeds for Texarkana Funeral Home, which his father owned. In 1981, the name changed to Family Liberty Life Insurance Company, and Mr. Fuqua became the sole owner. As Texarkana Funeral Home grew, so did Family Liberty Life, eventually entering Arkansas in 1997. In 2016, Family Liberty Life began selling Whole Life products including Insured Preneeds and Final Expense Insurance. Today Family Liberty Life services funeral homes throughout Texas and Arkansas and has over $35 million AUM.
Vickers began his career in the insurance industry in 1990 working for Texarkana Funeral Home. His grandfather, Howard Fuqua, started Texarkana Funeral Home in 1939, thus making Vickers a 3rd generation funeral director. Vickers took over as President of Family Liberty Life in 2010 and has been active in the daily operations of both the funeral home and insurance business. Vickers was born and raised in Texarkana and participates in many community activities. He enjoys hunting, playing golf, and spending time with his wife Whitney, daughter Bella, and son Ayres. Vickers feels fortunate serving his community and being there for families in their time of need.
Thomas joined Family Liberty Life as an Officer in 2010 while running a successful logistics company with offices in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. After selling his company in 2016, Thomas moved from Austin to Texarkana to focus on daily operations of Family Liberty Life, specifically Sales and Investments. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys hunting, golf, and most importantly spending time with his children.
Fred joined Family Liberty Life in March 2017 as Chief Operations Officer. He is a graduate of Baylor University with an MBA from Texas A&M – Texarkana. He has an extensive background in finance, investments, sales, and banking, and currently focuses on the operations of Family Liberty Life specifically in the regulatory and accounting aspects.Fred is actively involved in his church and community organizations. His spare time is primarily spent coaching his two sons in youth sports or spending time with his wife, Cassy.
